NEWS RELEASE Biofriendly Corporation Awarded Grant by the State of Texas for EPA Verification Testing Monrovia, CA – February 22, 2005 – The leading environmental agency of the State of Texas has awarded Biofriendly Corporation a $500,000 grant to pay for U.S. Environmental Protection Agency verification of its emissions reduction technology, Green Plus®. Biofriendly was selected from dozens of applicants to receive full grant funding under Texas’ New Technology Research and Development (NTRD) Program. Biofriendly’s liquid fuel combustion catalyst, Green Plus, was awarded the grant as a fuel additive technology with the potential to reduce emissions from on-road and non-road diesel engines and vehicles. These engines are responsible for emitting high quantities of harmful Nitrogen Oxides (NOx) in Texas, which negatively impact urban, suburban, and rural air quality. The grant to Biofriendly is the second award Texas has made to the company. In 2004, Biofriendly completed grant-funded certified tests that showed significant reductions in emissions. The new award will enable the company to complete final EPA verification of its technology, which is planned for completion later this year. The New Technology Research and Development (NTRD) Program provides grants to encourage and support research, development and commercialization of technologies that reduce pollution in Texas. Its primary objective is to promote the development of cost-effective technologies with strong commercialization plans that have the potential to reduce emissions of NOx (nitrogen oxides) emissions and contribute significantly to air quality goals in Texas. Under development for over 10 years, Green Plus is a product that employs nanotechnology (working at the molecular level) to achieve a breakthrough combination of improved fuel economy and reduced emissions. Green Plus is a liquid combustion catalyst that is added in very small quantities to fuel in order to create a more complete, cooler and more linear burn. The product has undergone rigorous testing in the United States, Europe and Asia, and has over 100 million miles of on-road/on-ocean use. Green Plus is now available commercially worldwide.
